About This Note

A beautiful Gold Certificate. The note you see here is the exact note you will receive.

The 1922 $10 Gold Certificate is the final series of large-size Gold Certificates ever issued by the United States: making it a historically significant and highly sought-after type note. The obverse features a striking portrait of Michael Hillegas, the first Treasurer of the United States, set against the unmistakable orange-gold coloring that defines the Gold Certificate series. The bold "TEN DOLLARS IN GOLD COIN" legend across the bottom and the large gold seal complete a design that collectors have prized for over a century.

The reverse is printed entirely in rich orange-gold ink with ornate lathe work surrounding the central "GOLD CERTIFICATE" and "TEN DOLLARS" legends: a design that perfectly complements the obverse.

This example grades PMG GEM UNC 65 EPQ: Exceptional Paper Quality confirmed. The note displays vibrant original color, sharp corners, and strong embossing throughout. The Speelman-White signature combination (Fr #1173) is the most common variety of this type, making it the ideal entry point for collectors of large-size Gold Certificates.

Gold Certificates were redeemable in gold coin at the Treasury and were called in during the 1933 gold recall, making survivors in any condition desirable. A GEM EPQ example like this is genuinely scarce.
