About This Note

The coin you see here is the exact coin you will receive.

The 2020-W $50 American Gold Eagle with V75 Privy Mark is one of the most historically significant and numerically scarce modern gold coins ever issued by the United States Mint: and finding one certified PCGS PR70 DCAM with First Strike designation is a genuine rarity.

The V75 privy mark was struck to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the end of World War II. The "V" stands for Victory; "75" marks the anniversary. The privy mark appears at the lower right of the date on the obverse, just above the radiating sunburst. The mintage was set at exactly 1,945 coins: a deliberate tribute to the year the war ended. That number is not a coincidence; it is the entire worldwide mintage.

The population of perfect coins is extraordinarily thin. Fewer than 1,000 examples have been certified PR70 combined across both PCGS and NGC. Once the existing certified population is absorbed by collectors and institutions, the upside potential is significant.

The obverse presents the iconic Saint-Gaudens-inspired Liberty striding forward, torch raised high, olive branch extended, against a dramatic radiating sunburst. LIBERTY arches above with a ring of stars. The V75 privy mark sits at lower right of the date 2020.

The reverse features Miley Busiek's design of a male bald eagle in flight, carrying an olive branch, descending toward a nest where a female eagle tends eaglets. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA arcs above; IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM appear at the sides; 1 OZ. FINE GOLD - 50 DOLLARS below.

West Point Mint. 1 troy ounce of .9167 fine gold. $50 face value. PCGS PR70 DCAM, First Strike, Cert #819295.70/40623327. Deep cameo contrast between heavily frosted devices and mirror-polished fields. A trophy coin with a story that will only grow more compelling with time.

Seller Notes

"Very rare coin: only 1,945 minted. Less than 1,000 certified PR70 with both PCGS and NGC combined. Once these are absorbed, the sky is the limit. The coin you see here is the exact coin you will receive. All packing and shipping are videoed for your protection and ours."
