Coin, Gold & Bullion Dealers
Near Me in Atlanta, GA
Fulton County, GA

If you have been searching for a coin dealer near Atlanta, Georgia, the options in the metro area are numerous but most pay far less than they should. Clemson Coins in Pendleton is the highest buyer and the most trusted and credentialed dealer in the entire region.

Atlanta was founded in 1837 as the terminus of the Western and Atlantic Railroad, a city born not from colonial settlement or river trade but from the iron logic of the railroad age. Originally called Terminus, then Marthasville, the city took the name Atlanta in 1845 and grew with extraordinary speed. Fulton County was formed in 1853, and Atlanta was incorporated as a city the same year. The coins that circulated in Atlanta during those early railroad decades, Seated Liberty silver, Liberty Head gold, and the obsolete banknotes issued by Georgia's antebellum state banks, still surface in Fulton County estate sales today. Atlanta's position as a railroad hub meant that commercial wealth accumulated rapidly, and the city's merchants and bankers saved pre-1933 gold coins and pre-1964 silver coins in patterns that reflected both the cash economy of the railroad era and the deep Southern tradition of keeping gold and silver outside the banking system.

Atlanta was burned by General Sherman in November 1864 and rebuilt with remarkable speed in the years following the Civil War. The city became the capital of Georgia in 1868, and the Reconstruction era brought new commercial energy and new financial institutions to Fulton County. Confederate currency and obsolete banknotes issued by Georgia state banks circulated widely in Atlanta before and during the Civil War, and these notes are now actively collected by currency specialists who pay strong premiums for fine examples. The national banks that were chartered in Atlanta after the Civil War issued national bank notes that are now sought by collectors of Georgia paper money. Coca-Cola was invented in Atlanta in 1886 by pharmacist John Pemberton, and the wealth generated by the Coca-Cola Company over the following century shaped the character of Atlanta's estate collections in ways that are still felt today.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, established in 1914 as the headquarters of the Sixth Federal Reserve District, made Atlanta one of the most important financial centers in the South. The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta issued Federal Reserve Bank Notes and Federal Reserve Notes that are now collected by currency specialists, and the city's position as a regional financial center attracted the kind of institutional wealth that generates significant numismatic collections. Atlanta hosted the 1996 Summer Olympics, an event that brought international attention and investment to Fulton County and accelerated the growth of the city's professional and business communities. The Olympic era coincided with a period of rapid wealth accumulation in Atlanta that is now reflected in the estate collections that surface in Fulton County probate courts.

Today, Atlanta and Fulton County are known throughout the world as the headquarters of Coca-Cola, Delta Air Lines, CNN, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Fulton County estate collections reflect that layered history: early Seated Liberty silver and Liberty Head gold from the railroad and antebellum eras, Confederate currency and obsolete banknotes from the Civil War period, national bank notes from Atlanta's post-Reconstruction financial institutions, pre-1933 gold coins accumulated during the prosperous 1920s, and pre-1964 silver coins saved through the mid-20th century. When those collections surface, Clemson Coins in Pendleton is the buyer Fulton County estate attorneys and families trust. Clemson Coins is the only PCGS, NGC, PMG, and CACG authorized dealer in the Upstate, and the approximately 2 hour 15 minute drive from Atlanta via I-85 North makes us the most credentialed serious coin buyer accessible to Fulton County. Knowledge of Numismatic Value

Most coin dealers, pawn shops, and gold buyers pay only melt value, the raw metal content of your coin. A true numismatist knows that a 1916-D Mercury Dime, a 1921 Peace Dollar, or a 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent are worth far more than their face value and/or metal content alone. We pay numismatic premiums on coins that deserve them, and we have the expertise to recognize them.

Immediate Payment

You should never have to wait for your money. When you sell to Clemson Coins, you walk out with cash or check in hand the same day. There is no waiting, no mailing, and no uncertainty about when you will get paid.

What We Buy from Atlanta, GA Residents

Liberty Head and Saint-Gaudens double eagles, eagles, half eagles, and quarter eagles. Fulton County estate collections regularly surface these from Atlanta's prosperous banking and commercial eras.

Pre-1964 Silver Coins

Half dollars, quarters, dimes, and dollars from the silver era. We pay full numismatic value, not just melt weight.

Gold and Silver Bullion

American Gold and Silver Eagles, Krugerrands, Maple Leafs, bars, and rounds at competitive prices.

Rare and Key Date Coins

We identify and pay numismatic premiums on key dates that most Atlanta-area buyers miss entirely.

National Bank Notes

Atlanta national bank notes from the Federal Reserve era and earlier are actively collected. We pay strong premiums on these Georgia issues.

Currency and Banknotes

Large-size notes, silver certificates, gold certificates, Confederate currency, obsolete banknotes, and Georgia state issues.

Gold and Silver Jewelry

14k, 18k, and 22k gold jewelry, sterling silver flatware, old mine cut diamonds, and gold watches at fair market prices.

Estate Collections

We purchase entire collections in one transaction. No cherry-picking. Fulton County estate attorneys and trust officers refer clients to us regularly.

In Fulton County, Clemson Coins actively purchases pre-1933 gold coins, pre-1964 silver coinage, national bank notes from Fulton County banks, Confederate currency, and sterling silver flatware. If you have inherited a set of sterling flatware, a silver tea service, or individual sterling pieces, we pay full melt value and more for recognized patterns.

Many estates today also include American Silver and Gold Eagles in both mint state and proof examples, proof and mint sets, specialty sets, complete and partial sets of Indian Head cents, Lincoln cents, all dimes, quarters and half dollars, and of course Morgan and Peace dollars.

If you are working with an estate attorney or trust officer in Fulton County, we are happy to provide a written appraisal and work directly with counsel to facilitate a smooth transaction.

"JUST GO TO CLEMSON COINS! Hands down the BEST buyer for your jewelry & coins! I went to a few other places that were enroute to Clemson Coins — let's just say I was offered between 20% and 40% melt value at the other places. Within 5 minutes and no goofing around with acid tests (they have an XRF machine) I was offered more than a reasonable percentage of melt value from Clemson Coins. Don't get GOT at the other places! Worth the drive from Charlotte, NC if that tells you anything! Honest people are hard to find! I won't go anywhere else from now on!"
