Near Me in Pelzer, SC
Anderson County, SC

A family in Pelzer searching for a coin dealer has a 20-minute drive and a significant payoff waiting in Pendleton. Clemson Coins is the highest-paying, most trusted and credentialed coin and gold dealer in the entire Upstate region.

Pelzer was incorporated in 1882 and takes its name from Francis Pelzer, a Charleston financier who provided the capital to establish the Pelzer Manufacturing Company along the Saluda River in Anderson County. What followed was one of the most ambitious planned industrial communities in South Carolina history. The company did not simply build a mill; it built an entire town. Worker housing, a church, a school, a company store, and community infrastructure were all constructed and owned by the Pelzer Manufacturing Company, creating a self-contained village where the rhythms of daily life were inseparable from the rhythms of the looms. At its height the operation was among the largest cotton textile enterprises in the entire Southeast, drawing workers from across the SC Piedmont and establishing the Pelzer name as synonymous with industrial scale and paternalistic community organization. The families who settled here across the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries lived in a company-dominated economy where wages were real but spending was largely channeled back through company institutions. Despite that structure, workers accumulated Morgan Dollars, Peace Dollars, pre-1933 gold coins, and silver certificates that were tucked away in homes and passed down through generations, and those collections continue to surface in Anderson County estates today.

The Pelzer mills changed hands and ownership structures multiple times through the twentieth century as the broader textile industry in the American South went through consolidation, competition from overseas, and eventual decline. The company town model gradually gave way to a more conventional community structure as the mill's dominance faded, and Pelzer transitioned from a company-owned village into an independent small town with its own civic identity rooted in the mill era but no longer defined entirely by it.

Today Pelzer is a small, close-knit community along the Saluda River in Anderson County, holding onto its mill-era character while the surrounding corridor between Anderson and Greenville continues to grow. Estate sales and family settlements regularly bring out collections that span the full arc of Pelzer's history, from early industrial-era coinage through mid-century accumulations of silver and gold that families set aside during the prosperous postwar decades.

That history of working families who saved carefully and accumulated real wealth in coin and precious metal is exactly why Clemson Coins in Pendleton serves Pelzer so well. We understand what Anderson County estate collections contain, we pay full numismatic value on every piece that deserves it, and we have the financial strength to purchase collections of any size the same day you walk in. When a Pelzer family is ready to sell, the drive to Pendleton takes about 30 minutes and the difference in what you receive compared to any other buyer in the region is significant. Paying Numismatic Value, Not Just Metal Weight

A pawn shop or gold buyer weighs your coin and pays for the metal. A real numismatist reads the coin. A 1921 Peace Dollar, a 1916-D Mercury Dime, or a 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent can be worth many times its melt value. We know the difference, and we pay accordingly.

Same-Day Payment, Every Time

When you sell to Clemson Coins, you walk out with cash or check in hand the same day. No waiting periods, no consignment arrangements, no uncertainty.

The Financial Strength to Handle Any Size Collection

Clemson Coins has purchased collections ranging from a few hundred dollars to well over one million dollars. Anderson County estate attorneys, trust officers, and families with significant holdings know where to bring the big deals.

"I drove over an hour to visit this coin shop, and it was absolutely worth it. Joe, the owner, was honest, knowledgeable, and gave very fair prices. After checking buy prices all over South Carolina, his shop had the best rates I could find for both silver and gold. There was no pressure at all, and the entire experience was straightforward and enjoyable. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will definitely be back. Highly recommended."

"JUST GO TO CLEMSON COINS! Hands down the BEST buyer for your jewelry & coins! I went to a few other places that were enroute to Clemson Coins — let's just say I was offered between 20% and 40% melt value at the other places. Within 5 minutes and no goofing around with acid tests (they have an XRF machine) I was offered more than a reasonable percentage of melt value from Clemson Coins. Don't get GOT at the other places! Worth the drive from Charlotte, NC if that tells you anything! Honest people are hard to find! I won't go anywhere else from now on!"

"Great place! I've gone in several times and found some really cool stuff. They have anything you could want at a really good price! I've gone in for different historical coins for my collection but have also purchased rare metals coins from them and they are very fair with the pricing. Additionally they are very helpful and will answer any questions you have about coins, you can tell they want to help you out! Highly recommend!"
