Powdersville residents searching for a coin dealer have a 30-minute drive and a significant payoff waiting in Pendleton. Clemson Coins is the highest-paying, most trusted and credentialed coin and gold dealer in the entire Upstate region.
Powdersville takes its name from a gunpowder mill that operated in the area in the early nineteenth century, a reminder that this corridor between Anderson and Greenville was already an active industrial and agricultural zone long before the modern era. The land here was part of the original Anderson County frontier, opened to European settlement after the Cherokee cession of 1777 and quickly claimed by Scots-Irish and English farming families who put down roots that in many cases have lasted to the present day. Through the nineteenth century and well into the twentieth, Powdersville was a rural agricultural community of small farms, country churches, and tight-knit neighborhoods strung along the roads connecting Anderson and Greenville. The families who farmed this land across those generations accumulated coins and currency in the way that rural SC families did: carefully, incrementally, and with a deep distrust of banks that led many of them to keep their savings in silver and gold at home rather than in any institution. Pre-1933 gold coins, Morgan and Peace Dollars, pre-1964 silver coinage, and silver certificates from the mid-twentieth century all surface regularly in Powdersville-area estate sales as those old family homes are settled and cleared.
The character of Powdersville began shifting in the latter decades of the twentieth century as the I-85 corridor drew commercial and residential development outward from both Anderson and Greenville. The area along SC-153 and the surrounding roads became one of the most active growth zones in the entire Upstate, with retail centers, subdivisions, and schools following the population northward and westward from Greenville and eastward from Anderson.
Today Powdersville is one of the fastest-growing unincorporated communities in South Carolina, a place where longtime Anderson and Greenville County families live alongside newer arrivals drawn by the location, the schools, and the access to both cities. That combination produces a steady stream of estate collections as the older generation settles their affairs and the newer residents discover inherited coins and gold they do not know how to value.
Whether the collection belongs to a family that has been in Anderson County for five generations or a newer resident who found coins in a home they purchased, the answer is the same: Clemson Coins in Pendleton is 30 minutes away, pays full numismatic value on every piece that deserves it, and has the financial strength to close any size transaction the same day you walk in. Anderson County estate attorneys refer clients to us because they know we pay what a collection is actually worth. Clemson Coins Pays The Most, ALWAYS!

Before you walk into any dealer, gold buyer, or pawn shop in the Powdersville area, here is what you should know.
Credentials are not decorations. They represent vetted relationships with the grading services and trading networks that set the standard for fair pricing.
A pawn shop or gold buyer weighs your coin and pays for the metal. A real numismatist reads the coin. A 1921 Peace Dollar, a 1916-D Mercury Dime, or a 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent can be worth many times its melt value. We know the difference, and we pay accordingly.
When you sell to Clemson Coins, you walk out with cash or check in hand the same day. No waiting periods, no consignment arrangements, no uncertainty.
Clemson Coins has purchased collections ranging from a few hundred dollars to well over one million dollars. Anderson and Greenville County estate attorneys, trust officers, and families with significant holdings know where to bring the big deals.
We purchase a wide range of coins, currency, precious metals, and jewelry. If you are not sure what you have, bring it in. We look at everything at no charge and with no obligation to sell.
All dates and grades, raw and slabbed. Key dates paid at full numismatic value.
$2.50, $5, $10, and $20 Liberty and Saint-Gaudens denominations.
All years, proof and bullion strikes, singles and monster boxes.
1909-S VDB, 1916-D Mercury Dime, 1916 Standing Liberty Quarter, and more.
Bars, rounds, and all major mint brands at competitive premiums.
Large-size notes, silver certificates, nationals, and Confederate currency.
All karats, any condition. Rings, chains, bracelets, broken pieces welcome.
Any size, from $500 to over $1 million. We come to you for large estates.
From Powdersville and Anderson County estates, we regularly purchase: pre-1933 gold coins, pre-1964 silver coinage, national bank notes from Anderson County banks, Confederate currency, and sterling silver flatware.
Many estates today also include American Silver and Gold Eagles in both mint state and proof examples, proof and mint sets, specialty sets, complete and partial sets of Indian Head cents, Lincoln cents, all dimes, quarters and half dollars, and of course Morgan and Peace dollars.
If you are working with an estate attorney or trust officer in Anderson County, we are happy to provide a written appraisal and work directly with counsel to facilitate a smooth transaction.

Accept and get paid immediately in cash or check. Decline and walk out with your items. Zero pressure.
Clemson Coins and Currency has the financial strength to purchase your collection for $500, $5,000, $50,000, $250,000, and up to and over one million dollars without any stories. Take a look at our recent purchases and judge for yourself where the big money deals go.

"On a whim I decided to stop in with some old gold necklaces that I had been holding on to. I had a few things to pop up (like a vet bill) that I wasn't prepared for. Joe gave me top dollar for my things and I just couldn't be more grateful than I am right now! Thank you Clemson Coins!"

"With all the hype around Whatnot, TikTok auctions, and online coin sales these days, it's refreshing to have a trusted local coin shop right here in South Carolina that's been in business long before any of those platforms even existed. I've done business with the owner and have always had a great experience. The knowledge, honesty, and inventory are hard to beat. If you've been searching eBay, Whatnot, or online auction sites and can't seem to find what you're looking for, there's a good chance these guys got it. Trust me. Whether you're into coins, currency, bullion, or collectibles, Clemson Coins is the kind of place that's built its reputation the old-fashioned way through years of experience and treating customers right. Highly recommended."

"I had a great experience at Clemson Coins, Currency, Bullion & Jewelry and highly recommend them to anyone looking to sell gold. I came in with an 18K gold necklace and honestly didn't know what to expect, but the whole process was smooth, and professional from start to finish. They weighed everything in front of me, and gave me a very fair price based on the current market. What really stood out was how respectful and straightforward they were. You can tell they value honesty and customer trust. I also compared offers, and theirs was one of the best in the area. If you're in the Clemson/Pendleton area and want a reliable place to sell gold, this is definitely the spot to go. I'd come back again without hesitation."

"After sending an email, regarding the sale of some personal coins, I was advised to come by the store. For those that seem upset about not getting 'ballpark' offers on the phone, let's be real. If you're not a professional, you can't possibly know what the owner is looking for. To spend hours on the phone, going over dates, condition, etc. Just stop in. The owner is very straight forward. He doesn't want to waste his time or yours. His offer was fair and quick. If you are trying to sell, then realize this is a business, for profit. It may not be top price, in your expectation, but it is top in resale. I will be returning for future endeavors. Thank you, Sir. I appreciate your time and fairness."

"JUST GO TO CLEMSON COINS! Hands down the BEST buyer for your jewelry & coins! I went to a few other places that were enroute to Clemson Coins — let's just say I was offered between 20% and 40% melt value at the other places. Within 5 minutes and no goofing around with acid tests (they have an XRF machine) I was offered more than a reasonable percentage of melt value from Clemson Coins. Don't get GOT at the other places! Worth the drive from Charlotte, NC if that tells you anything! Honest people are hard to find! I won't go anywhere else from now on!"
Powdersville customers regularly tell us they stopped at a local gold buyer first, received a number, then drove to Pendleton and walked out with significantly more. We hear that story every week.
