Coin, Gold & Bullion Dealers
Near Me in Dalton, GA
Whitfield County, GA

If you have been searching for a coin dealer near Dalton, Georgia, the options in the Carpet Capital of the World are limited and most pay far less than they should. Clemson Coins in Pendleton is the highest buyer and the most trusted and credentialed dealer in the entire region.

Whitfield County was formed in 1851 from Murray County and named for George Whitfield, the Methodist evangelist whose Great Awakening preaching shaped the religious culture of the colonial South and whose name was given to the county by settlers who carried that evangelical tradition into the Georgia frontier. Dalton, the county seat, grew from the small settlement of Cross Plains into a significant commercial center along the Western and Atlantic Railroad, the same line that connected Atlanta to Chattanooga and made North Georgia accessible to the broader national economy. The Battle of Dalton, fought in February 1864 during the opening phase of Sherman's Atlanta Campaign, brought the Civil War directly to Whitfield County, and the Confederate earthworks at Rocky Face Ridge, just west of Dalton, are among the best-preserved Civil War fortifications in Georgia. The First National Bank of Dalton, which issued national bank notes actively collected by currency specialists today, was chartered in the postwar commercial revival that transformed Dalton from a war-damaged railroad town into a thriving industrial center.

The tufted bedspread industry that would eventually make Dalton the Carpet Capital of the World began in the 1890s when Catherine Evans Whitener, a young woman from the Dalton area, revived the craft of hand-tufted bedspreads that her grandmother had practiced. Whitener's bedspreads attracted buyers from across the country, and by the 1920s the cottage industry she had revived had grown into a network of hundreds of home-based tufters working the roads around Dalton. The prosperity of the bedspread era brought new wealth into Whitfield County, and the families who built that industry accumulated pre-1933 gold coins and pre-1964 silver coins in patterns that reflect both the cash economy of the cottage industry and the deep Southern tradition of keeping hard money outside the banking system. The Liberty Head and Saint-Gaudens gold coins saved by Dalton's bedspread families during the prosperous 1920s are among the most historically significant numismatic artifacts associated with North Georgia's industrial heritage.

The transformation of the tufted bedspread industry into the modern carpet industry after World War II made Dalton one of the most economically significant cities in the American South. By the 1960s, over 90 percent of the world's tufted carpet was produced within a 65-mile radius of Dalton, and the industrial wealth generated by that concentration of manufacturing created a class of carpet industry families whose estates now surface with collections that span from the antebellum period through the late 20th century. The carpet industry families of Whitfield County accumulated significant quantities of pre-1933 gold coins, pre-1964 silver coins, gold and silver jewelry, and sterling silver flatware, and the estate attorneys who handle those collections regularly seek buyers with the expertise and financial strength to purchase them at fair market value.

Today, Dalton and Whitfield County are known throughout the world as the Carpet Capital, and the industrial heritage of the tufted carpet industry is documented at the Crown Gardens and Archives, one of the finest local history museums in North Georgia. Whitfield County estate collections reflect that layered history: early Bust and Seated Liberty silver from the antebellum railroad era, national bank notes from the First National Bank of Dalton, pre-1933 gold coins accumulated during the prosperous bedspread and early carpet years, and pre-1964 silver coins saved through the mid-20th century manufacturing boom. When those collections surface, Clemson Coins in Pendleton is the buyer Whitfield County estate attorneys and families trust. Knowledge of Numismatic Value

Most coin dealers, pawn shops, and gold buyers pay only melt value, the raw metal content of your coin. A true numismatist knows that a 1916-D Mercury Dime, a 1921 Peace Dollar, or a 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent are worth far more than their face value and/or metal content alone. We pay numismatic premiums on coins that deserve them, and we have the expertise to recognize them.

Immediate Payment

You should never have to wait for your money. When you sell to Clemson Coins, you walk out with cash or check in hand the same day. There is no waiting, no mailing, and no uncertainty about when you will get paid.

What We Buy from Dalton, GA Residents

Half dollars, quarters, dimes, and dollars from the silver era. We pay full numismatic value, not just melt weight.

Gold and Silver Bullion

American Gold and Silver Eagles, Krugerrands, Maple Leafs, bars, and rounds at competitive prices.

Rare and Key Date Coins

We identify and pay numismatic premiums on key dates that most North Georgia buyers miss entirely.

Currency and Banknotes

Large-size notes, silver certificates, gold certificates, Confederate currency, obsolete banknotes, and First National Bank of Dalton notes.

Gold and Silver Jewelry

14k, 18k, and 22k gold jewelry, sterling silver flatware, old mine cut diamonds, and gold watches at fair market prices.

Estate Collections

We purchase entire collections in one transaction. No cherry-picking. Whitfield County estate attorneys and carpet industry families refer clients to us regularly.

PCGS and NGC Graded Coins

We pay strong premiums on certified coins. As authorized dealers for both services, we know exactly what they are worth.

In Whitfield County, Clemson Coins actively purchases pre-1933 gold coins, pre-1964 silver coinage, national bank notes from Whitfield County banks, Confederate currency, and sterling silver flatware. If you have inherited a set of sterling flatware, a silver tea service, or individual sterling pieces, we pay full melt value and more for recognized patterns.

Many estates today also include American Silver and Gold Eagles in both mint state and proof examples, proof and mint sets, specialty sets, complete and partial sets of Indian Head cents, Lincoln cents, all dimes, quarters and half dollars, and of course Morgan and Peace dollars.

If you are working with an estate attorney or trust officer in Whitfield County, we are happy to provide a written appraisal and work directly with counsel to facilitate a smooth transaction.

"Our dog was attacked and needed an emergency surgery totaling over $4k. We called Clemson Coins and decided it's worth a visit, I have never sold or pawned anything so this was my first experience. Everybody at Clemson Coin seemed to be knowledgeable and helpful, it was a Saturday and the place was pretty busy. Joe asked a few questions about our dog since he is a dog lover, he gave me an estimate, it was fair and the transaction was smooth and straightforward. We went there trying to turn Gold into Cash, and it worked out perfectly fine. Highly recommended! P.S. I think Deena and Pebbles would have given me a better rate. LOL"

"For a 1st time buyer, they were extremely helpful with helping pick out some metals for gifts, and had a good selection of different pieces to fit the occasion. The price was fair from what I could see as they were only a few dollars above the current market rates you can find online as you would expect from a brick and mortar exchange. I will definitely be back for future needs."

"JUST GO TO CLEMSON COINS! Hands down the BEST buyer for your jewelry & coins! I went to a few other places that were enroute to Clemson Coins — let's just say I was offered between 20% and 40% melt value at the other places. Within 5 minutes and no goofing around with acid tests (they have an XRF machine) I was offered more than a reasonable percentage of melt value from Clemson Coins. Don't get GOT at the other places! Worth the drive from Charlotte, NC if that tells you anything! Honest people are hard to find! I won't go anywhere else from now on!"
