Spartanburg County's Highest-Paying Buyer
Just 55 minutes from Inman via I-85 South and SC-28, Clemson Coins in Pendleton is the most credentialed and highest-paying coin and gold dealer in the region. We are authorized dealers with PCGS, NGC, and CAC, and we pay full numismatic value on every piece we buy.
Inman is a small city in the northern reaches of Spartanburg County, situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains where the Pacolet River watershed begins its descent toward the Piedmont. The town was incorporated in 1892 and named for Samuel Martin Inman, an Atlanta businessman and cotton merchant who was instrumental in financing the railroad extension that brought the Southern Railway through the area. That railroad connection was the defining event in Inman's early history, transforming a rural crossroads into a commercial and industrial hub for the northern Spartanburg County communities of Landrum, Chesnee, and Campobello. The families who settled Inman and the surrounding communities in the late nineteenth century were among the most prosperous in the Upstate, and their estates regularly include pre-1933 gold coins, pre-1964 silver coins, and currency accumulated across generations.
The early twentieth century brought the textile industry to Inman in force. The Inman Mills, established in 1901, became one of the most significant textile operations in Spartanburg County and anchored the local economy for most of the twentieth century. At its peak, Inman Mills employed hundreds of workers and generated the kind of steady, multigenerational prosperity that expressed itself in savings, gold jewelry, silver flatware, and coin collections that have been with families for decades. The broader Spartanburg County textile economy, which at its peak in the mid-twentieth century was one of the most productive in the world, created a regional wealth base whose estate collections are among the most interesting in the Southeast. The relative prosperity of the textile era left behind generations of savers who accumulated pre-1933 gold coins, pre-1964 silver coins, and currency that now surfaces regularly through estate sales and inheritance.
The decline of the textile industry in the 1970s and 1980s was followed by a remarkable economic transformation in Spartanburg County. BMW Manufacturing chose Spartanburg County for its first American production facility in 1994, and the plant in nearby Greer has grown into the largest BMW manufacturing operation in the world. That investment attracted a wave of international suppliers, engineers, and professional families to the region, and the northern Spartanburg County communities of Inman, Landrum, and Chesnee have benefited from the overflow of that growth. The Tryon International Equestrian Center, which opened in 2014 in nearby Mill Spring, North Carolina, just across the state line from Landrum, has drawn an affluent equestrian community to the foothills region that includes serious collectors and accumulators.
Today Inman and northern Spartanburg County are experiencing significant residential growth as families seek the combination of mountain proximity, rural character, and access to the Greenville-Spartanburg metropolitan area. The Campobello, Landrum, and Chesnee communities have all seen new development, and the estate landscape of the region is richer and more varied than ever. Despite that growth, Inman has no coin dealer with the credentials or buying power of Clemson Coins, just 55 minutes away in Pendleton. Sellers from Inman, Boiling Springs, Landrum, and Chesnee make the drive regularly because the difference in what they receive is real and significant.

Not all coin dealers are the same. Here is what you should look for before you walk in the door.
A reputable dealer will be authorized by the major grading services and industry organizations. At Clemson Coins, we are the only dealer in the region with all of the following authorizations:
Most coin dealers, pawn shops, and gold buyers pay only melt value, the raw metal content of your coin. A true numismatist knows that a 1916-D Mercury Dime, a 1909-S VDB Lincoln cent, or a pre-1933 gold coin are worth far more than their face value and metal content alone. We pay numismatic premiums on coins that deserve them, and we have the expertise to recognize them.
You should never have to wait for your money. When you sell to Clemson Coins, you walk out with cash or check in hand the same day. There is no waiting, no mailing, and no uncertainty about when you will get paid.
Spartanburg County estate collections reflect the full arc of the Upstate's history from the railroad era families of the late nineteenth century through the textile prosperity of the twentieth century and the international professional class that arrived with BMW Manufacturing. We buy everything.
Liberty Head, Saint-Gaudens, Indian Head, and all U.S. gold series. We pay full numismatic value on every date and grade.
Dimes, quarters, half dollars, and dollars in all series. Key dates and common dates purchased at competitive premiums.
American Eagles, Maple Leafs, Krugerrands, bars, and rounds. We pay strong premiums over spot on all bullion.
Key dates, error coins, Confederate currency, large-size notes, silver certificates, and national bank notes from Spartanburg County banks.
All karats of gold jewelry, sterling silver flatware, gold watches, and estate jewelry purchased at fair market value.
We purchase complete collections without cherry-picking. One offer, one payment, same day.
From Inman and Spartanburg County estates, we regularly purchase: pre-1933 gold coins, pre-1964 silver coinage, national bank notes from Spartanburg County banks, Confederate currency, and sterling silver flatware.
Many estates today also include American Silver and Gold Eagles in both mint state and proof examples, proof and mint sets, specialty sets, complete and partial sets of Indian Head cents, Lincoln cents, all dimes, quarters and half dollars, and of course Morgan and Peace dollars.
If you are working with an estate attorney or trust officer in Spartanburg County, we are happy to provide a written appraisal and work directly with counsel to facilitate a smooth transaction.

"JUST GO TO CLEMSON COINS! Hands down the BEST buyer for your jewelry & coins! I went to a few other places that were enroute to Clemson Coins -- let's just say I was offered between 20% and 40% melt value at the other places. Within 5 minutes and no goofing around with acid tests (they have an XRF machine) I was offered more than a reasonable percentage of melt value from Clemson Coins. Don't get GOT at the other places! Worth the drive from Charlotte, NC if that tells you anything! Honest people are hard to find! I won't go anywhere else from now on!"

"Worked with them my father's extensive collection. He was fair, and incredibly gracious in pricing the collection for us."
Many customers have told us they visited a local buyer first, received a number, then drove to us and walked out with significantly more money. We hear that story every day.
