Fannin County, GA

Blue Ridge, Georgia is the county seat of Fannin County, a mountain community named for Colonel James Walker Fannin, the Texas Revolution hero who died at the Goliad Massacre in 1836. Fannin County was formed in 1854 from Gilmer and Union counties, and the town of Blue Ridge was established as the county seat in 1855. The county's rugged mountain terrain made it one of the most isolated communities in antebellum Georgia, and the families who settled the Toccoa River valley and the ridges above Lake Blue Ridge accumulated pre-1933 gold coins and pre-1964 silver coins in patterns that reflect the mountain tradition of keeping hard money at home rather than in banks. The earliest coins to circulate in Fannin County were Capped Bust and early Seated Liberty pieces brought by settlers from the Carolina Piedmont and the Georgia lowlands.

The copper mining industry that developed in Fannin County in the late 19th century brought a wave of industrial wealth to the mountains, and the mining families who operated the copper operations accumulated substantial coin collections alongside their industrial earnings. The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, which began operations in the early 20th century, connected the isolated mountain community to the broader Georgia economy and brought a new generation of merchants and professionals whose estates now surface with collections accumulated over multiple generations. The Toccoa River and Lake Blue Ridge have made Fannin County a destination for trout fishing and outdoor recreation since the early 20th century, and the families who built vacation homes in the mountains brought their coin collections with them.

The late 20th century transformation of Blue Ridge into an Atlanta vacation home community brought a new wave of wealth to Fannin County, and the older mountain families who had accumulated coins and currency through the farming and mining eras found themselves with estate collections that needed a serious buyer. The Fannin County National Bank and other local institutions issued national bank notes that are actively collected by currency specialists, and the First National Bank of Blue Ridge notes are among the most sought-after in the North Georgia mountain region.

Today, Blue Ridge is a thriving mountain resort community and one of the most popular weekend destinations in the Southeast, and the surrounding Fannin County farmland continues to yield estate collections from families who accumulated coins and currency across multiple generations. When Fannin County estate collections surface, Clemson Coins in Pendleton is the buyer that estate attorneys and families trust. We are the only PCGS, NGC, PMG, and CACG authorized dealer in the region, and the approximately 1 hour 30 minute drive from Blue Ridge via US-76 East makes us the most credentialed serious coin buyer accessible to Fannin County. Knowledge of Numismatic Value

Most coin dealers and pawn shops pay only melt value. A true numismatist knows that a key date coin, a 1916-D Mercury Dime, or a 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent are worth far more than their metal content alone. We pay numismatic premiums on coins that deserve them.

Immediate Payment

You should never have to wait for your money. When you sell to Clemson Coins, you walk out with cash or check in hand the same day.

What We Buy from Blue Ridge, GA Residents

Pre-1933 Gold Coins

Liberty Head and Saint-Gaudens double eagles, eagles, half eagles, and quarter eagles. Fannin County mountain estates regularly surface these from the copper mining and farming eras.

Pre-1964 Silver Coins

Half dollars, quarters, dimes, and dollars from the silver era. We pay full numismatic value, not just melt weight.

Gold and Silver Bullion

American Gold and Silver Eagles, Krugerrands, Maple Leafs, bars, and rounds at competitive prices.

Rare and Key Date Coins

We identify and pay numismatic premiums on key dates that most North Georgia buyers miss entirely.

Currency and Banknotes

Large-size notes, silver certificates, gold certificates, Confederate currency, obsolete banknotes, and Fannin County national bank notes.

Gold and Silver Jewelry

14k, 18k, and 22k gold jewelry, sterling silver flatware, old mine cut diamonds, and gold watches at fair market prices.

Estate Collections

We purchase entire collections in one transaction. No cherry-picking. Fannin County estate attorneys and Atlanta vacation-home families refer clients to us regularly.

PCGS and NGC Graded Coins

We pay strong premiums on certified coins. As authorized dealers for both services, we know exactly what they are worth.

In Fannin County, Clemson Coins actively purchases pre-1933 gold coins, pre-1964 silver coinage, national bank notes from Fannin County banks, Confederate currency, and sterling silver flatware. If you have inherited a set of sterling flatware, a silver tea service, or individual sterling pieces, we pay full melt value and more for recognized patterns.

Many estates today also include American Silver and Gold Eagles in both mint state and proof examples, proof and mint sets, specialty sets, complete and partial sets of Indian Head cents, Lincoln cents, all dimes, quarters and half dollars, and of course Morgan and Peace dollars.

If you are working with an estate attorney or trust officer in Fannin County, we are happy to provide a written appraisal and work directly with counsel to facilitate a smooth transaction.

"Come see my man Joe. Was not expecting the integrity and honesty when I walked in. As usual, when you walk into a place and think the worst. Totally opposite of what I was expecting!! Great guy!! Great atmosphere! Wonderful people. Had some gold and coins I needed to off because I was in pinch. I am most definitely coming back to restock! Go see Joe and Terry!! A MUST!!"

"JUST GO TO CLEMSON COINS! Hands down the BEST buyer for your jewelry & coins! I went to a few other places that were enroute to Clemson Coins — let's just say I was offered between 20% and 40% melt value at the other places. Within 5 minutes and no goofing around with acid tests (they have an XRF machine) I was offered more than a reasonable percentage of melt value from Clemson Coins. Don't get GOT at the other places! Worth the drive from Charlotte, NC if that tells you anything! Honest people are hard to find! I won't go anywhere else from now on!"

"My wife Michele and I stopped by on a whim and spoke with Joe the owner. First of all the shop is fantastic and well stocked with a variety of silver to numismatics. As for Joe and his staff. They were very friendly and knowledgeable. They just gained a customer for life. But who holds down the shop are the adorable Yorkies. We will definitely be back asap. Thank you the great experience.
