If you have been searching for a coin dealer near Chattanooga, Tennessee, the local options do not match our credentials or buying power. Clemson Coins in Pendleton, SC is the highest buyer and the most credentialed dealer in the entire region.
Chattanooga is the seat of Hamilton County, Tennessee, one of the most historically significant cities in the American South. Situated at the southern end of the Great Appalachian Valley where the Tennessee River cuts through Lookout Mountain and Missionary Ridge, Chattanooga has been a strategic crossroads since the earliest days of European settlement. The city's location made it a critical military objective during the Civil War, and the battles fought on its surrounding ridges and mountains in 1863 were among the most consequential of the entire conflict. The families who lived through that era and rebuilt the city afterward accumulated gold coins, silver flatware, and currency that has passed through generations of Hamilton County estates. Chattanooga's postwar growth as a railroad hub and industrial center created new wealth that compounded across the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, producing the kind of estate collections that serious coin dealers dream about.
The twentieth century brought Chattanooga into the modern industrial era, with the Tennessee Valley Authority's development of the region transforming the city's economy and creating a prosperous middle class whose savings often took the form of pre-1964 silver coinage and pre-1933 gold coins. The city's famous Lookout Mountain attractions, the Tennessee Aquarium, and the revitalized downtown waterfront have made Chattanooga one of the most visited cities in the Southeast, but the wealth accumulated by its historic families remains concentrated in Hamilton County estates.
Today Chattanooga is a thriving city of nearly 200,000 residents, with Hamilton County's population exceeding 370,000. The city's revitalized downtown, its reputation as a tech hub, and its outdoor recreation opportunities have attracted a new generation of residents and businesses. The surrounding Hamilton County countryside, with its Civil War battlefields and scenic mountain landscapes, has produced generations of families whose accumulated savings and inherited collections now need a serious, credentialed buyer.
Despite Chattanooga's size and the wealth accumulated across generations of Hamilton County families, the city's coin dealers do not have the credentials or buying power of Clemson Coins, 2 hours away in Pendleton, South Carolina. Sellers from Chattanooga, Cleveland, and the surrounding area make the drive because the difference in what they receive is real and significant. Hamilton County estate attorneys and trust officers refer clients to us when a collection needs a buyer with the expertise to pay numismatic value and the financial strength to close the deal the same day. Clemson Coins Pays The Most, ALWAYS!

A reputable dealer will be authorized by the major grading services and industry organizations. At Clemson Coins, we are the only dealer in the region with all of the following authorizations:
Most coin dealers, pawn shops, and gold buyers pay only melt value. A true numismatist knows that a 1916-D Mercury Dime, a 1921 Peace Dollar, or a 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent are worth far more than their metal content alone. We pay numismatic premiums on coins that deserve them, and we have the expertise to recognize them.
You should never have to wait for your money. When you sell to Clemson Coins, you walk out with cash or check in hand the same day. There is no waiting, no mailing, and no uncertainty about when you will get paid.
Hamilton County families have accumulated generations of coins, currency, and precious metals. Whether you have a single coin or an entire estate collection, we look at everything at no charge and with no obligation.
Liberty Head, Saint-Gaudens, Indian Head — all denominations. Full numismatic value paid.

Large size notes, silver certificates, gold certificates, national bank notes, Confederate currency.

All karats of gold, sterling silver, platinum. Weighed and priced at current spot.

Chattanooga is one of Tennessee's largest cities, but Hamilton County's coin dealers still do not match our credentials or buying power. Sellers from Chattanooga and the surrounding area make the 2-hour drive to Pendleton because the difference in what they receive is real and significant. Neighboring communities like Cleveland, TN and Athens, TN face the same situation — no local dealer with the expertise to pay numismatic value on key-date coins, rare currency, or estate-quality collections. Hamilton County estate attorneys and trust officers refer clients to us when a collection needs a buyer with the financial strength to close the deal the same day.
Every seller from Chattanooga left with more than they were offered locally. "I really appreciated Mr. Joe's professional approach! He was very knowledgeable and didn't mind taking the time to explain things. He was thorough, but with no 'high pressure' to proceed. He and his staff were easy to deal with."

"Our dog was attacked and needed an emergency surgery totaling over $4k. We called Clemson Coins and decided it's worth a visit, I have never sold or pawned anything so this was my first experience. Everybody at Clemson Coin seemed to be knowledgeable and helpful, it was a Saturday and the place was pretty busy. Joe asked a few questions about our dog since he is a dog lover, he gave me an estimate, it was fair and the transaction was smooth and straightforward. We went there trying to turn Gold into Cash, and it worked out perfectly fine. Highly recommended! P.S. I think Deena and Pebbles would have given me a better rate. LOL"

"JUST GO TO CLEMSON COINS! Hands down the BEST buyer for your jewelry & coins! I went to a few other places that were enroute to Clemson Coins — let's just say I was offered between 20% and 40% melt value at the other places. Within 5 minutes and no goofing around with acid tests (they have an XRF machine) I was offered more than a reasonable percentage of melt value from Clemson Coins. Don't get GOT at the other places! Worth the drive from Charlotte, NC if that tells you anything! Honest people are hard to find! I won't go anywhere else from now on!"

"In closing my parents estate, I discovered old coins my late father had collected. I had no idea what to do and trashing was not an option. I came across Clemson Coins through a Google search and gave it a try. I met Joe and his beautiful wife and both security dogs. Joe was sincere, gracious, honest and very knowledgeable. After looking at my collection of coins, he offered me a number and I was shocked. Joe's heart is in what he does and I could tell. He could have swindled me. Today, I came across an honest businessman and I highly recommend Joe and the business he and his wife have built."

"For a 1st time buyer, they were extremely helpful with helping pick out some metals for gifts, and had a good selection of different pieces to fit the occasion. The price was fair from what I could see as they were only a few dollars above the current market rates you can find online as you would expect from a brick and mortar exchange. I will definitely be back for future needs."
