If you have been searching for a coin dealer near Hendersonville, North Carolina, the options are limited and most pay far less than they should. Clemson Coins in Pendleton is the highest buyer and the most trusted and credentialed dealer in the entire Upstate region.
Hendersonville was established in 1841 as the seat of Henderson County, carved from Buncombe County and named for Judge Leonard Henderson of the North Carolina Supreme Court. The town grew rapidly as a resort destination in the late 1800s, when wealthy families from the South Carolina Lowcountry and the Georgia coast traveled by rail to escape the summer heat. The Hendersonville and Brevard Railroad, completed in 1902, opened the county to timber operations and brought a new wave of commercial wealth. The old resort families of Henderson County accumulated gold coins, pre-1964 silver coins, and fine jewelry across generations, much of it stored in estate homes along the ridges above town. The Henderson County Courthouse, built in 1905, anchored a prosperous county seat economy through the textile era of the mid-twentieth century. Today Hendersonville is a thriving small city with a growing retiree population and a steady stream of estate sales as longtime Henderson County families settle affairs. Clemson Coins in Pendleton is 55 minutes south via US-25, and Henderson County sellers make the drive regularly because the difference in what they receive is significant.
Through the early twentieth century Hendersonville became one of the premier resort towns in the Southern Appalachians, drawing wealthy families from the South Carolina Lowcountry and the Florida coast who built summer cottages and brought their silver, gold coins, and jewelry to the mountains. The apple orchards that spread across Henderson County in the early 1900s added agricultural wealth to the resort economy.
Today Hendersonville is one of the fastest-growing retirement destinations in North Carolina, with a vibrant downtown, a nationally recognized apple festival, and a steady influx of retirees from across the Southeast. The growth has accelerated estate activity, and Henderson County estate sales regularly surface pre-1933 gold coins, Morgan and Peace dollars, sterling silver flatware, and gold jewelry from families who summered here for generations.
Henderson County's deep roots in resort culture and apple farming mean that estates here often contain coins and silver accumulated by families with significant wealth. Clemson Coins in Pendleton is roughly 75 minutes south via I-26, and Hendersonville sellers consistently find that our offers exceed what they received from local buyers. We pay more, we pay immediately, and we have the credentials to back every offer.

A reputable dealer will be authorized by the major grading services and industry organizations. At Clemson Coins, we are the only dealer in the region with all of the following authorizations:
Most coin dealers, pawn shops, and gold buyers pay only melt value, the raw metal content of your coin. A true numismatist knows that a 1916-D Mercury Dime, a 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent, or a key-date Walking Liberty Half Dollar are worth far more than their metal content alone. We pay numismatic premiums on coins that deserve them, and we have the expertise to recognize them.
You should never have to wait for your money. When you sell to Clemson Coins, you walk out with cash or check in hand the same day. There is no waiting, no mailing, and no uncertainty about when you will get paid.
Henderson County's apple farming heritage and mountain resort history produced distinctive estate collections, including pre-1933 gold coins accumulated by orchard families, gold jewelry from the Flat Rock literary community, and pre-1964 silver coins passed down through generations of Henderson County farming families.
We purchase a wide range of coins, currency, and precious metals. If you are not sure what you have, bring it in. We look at everything at no charge and with no obligation.
Liberty Head and Saint-Gaudens double eagles, eagles, half eagles, and quarter eagles. Henderson County estates regularly surface these from the resort-era wealth of the late 1800s.
Half dollars, quarters, dimes, and dollars from the silver era. We pay full numismatic value, not just melt weight.
American Gold and Silver Eagles, Krugerrands, Maple Leafs, bars, and rounds at competitive prices.
We identify and pay numismatic premiums on key dates that most Henderson County buyers miss entirely.
Large-size notes, silver certificates, gold certificates, Confederate currency, and obsolete banknotes from the First National Bank of Hendersonville era.
14k, 18k, and 22k gold jewelry, sterling silver flatware, and gold watches at fair market prices.
We purchase entire collections in one transaction. No cherry-picking. Henderson County estate attorneys refer clients to us.
We pay strong premiums on certified coins. As authorized dealers for both services, we know exactly what they are worth.
Henderson County coin types we buy: Pre-1933 gold coins, pre-1964 silver coins, Morgan and Peace dollars, national bank notes from the Hendersonville National Bank and Henderson County Bank, Confederate currency, American Gold and Silver Eagles, proof and mint sets, key-date coins, and sterling silver flatware from Henderson County estates.
Henderson County estate collections reflect the apple farming and resort heritage of the region. Apple farming families and summer resort visitors accumulated pre-1933 gold coins and fine silver across generations, and estate sales today regularly surface national bank notes and Confederate currency that local buyers overlook.
Henderson County estate attorneys and trust officers refer clients to us when a collection needs a buyer with the expertise to pay numismatic value and the financial strength to close the deal the same day.
We Pay More, ALWAYS!
The process could not be simpler.
No appointment needed. Tuesday through Saturday, 10am to 5pm.
We examine each coin for authenticity, grade, and current market value.
A real offer based on live spot prices and numismatic market data, not a lowball guess.
Accept and get paid immediately. Decline and walk out with your coins. Zero pressure.
Clemson Coins and Currency has the financial strength to purchase your collection or holdings for $500, $5,000, $50,000, $250,000, and up to and over one million dollars without any stories. Henderson County has a long tradition of careful stewardship, and the estate collections that surface here reflect that history. Families who settled the ridges above Hendersonville in the 1880s and 1890s accumulated pre-1933 gold coins, pre-1964 silver coins, and fine jewelry that passed through generations largely untouched. Sellers from Hendersonville regularly make the drive to Pendleton alongside neighbors from Brevard, Asheville, and Waynesville, all of whom find that the difference in what they receive at Clemson Coins versus any local option is real and substantial. Henderson County estate attorneys and trust officers refer clients to us when a collection needs a buyer with the expertise to pay numismatic value and the financial strength to close the same day.

"After sending an email, regarding the sale of some personal coins, I was advised to come by the store. For those that seem upset about not getting 'ballpark' offers on the phone, let's be real. If you're not a professional, you can't possibly know what the owner is looking for. To spend hours on the phone, going over dates, condition, etc. Just stop in. The owner is very straight forward. He doesn't want to waste his time or yours. His offer was fair and quick. If you are trying to sell, then realize this is a business, for profit. It may not be top price, in your expectation, but it is top in resale. I will be returning for future endeavors. Thank you, Sir. I appreciate your time and fairness."

"JUST GO TO CLEMSON COINS! Hands down the BEST buyer for your jewelry & coins! I went to a few other places that were enroute to Clemson Coins — let's just say I was offered between 20% and 40% melt value at the other places. Within 5 minutes and no goofing around with acid tests (they have an XRF machine) I was offered more than a reasonable percentage of melt value from Clemson Coins. Don't get GOT at the other places! Worth the drive from Charlotte, NC if that tells you anything! Honest people are hard to find! I won't go anywhere else from now on!"
Many customers have told us they visited a local Hendersonville-area buyer first, received a number, then drove to us and walked out with significantly more money. We hear that story every day.
